American Country Awards

Did you watch? They were last night on FOX. I confess that I have not yet watched most of the show. I saw up to Easton Corbin winning Best New Artist and that's it so far. Just too busy to sit down and pay attention to the show the way you guys deserve. Sorry about that.

I did love how Trace Adkins - as host - refused to do his monologue! That was very funny, and very Trace. Didn't care for the "meat chaps" bit - Brad Paisley did a much better Lady GaGa joke on the CMA's less than a month ago - including a "meat suit" joke.

Blake's performance of "Kiss My Country Ass" was pretty great too - and I couldn't help but thinking FOX was trying to tell us something with the choice of this song to kick off the show. Perhaps that they were going to be a more rowdy show? Guess I'll find out in the next several weeks as I slowly watch the show. (I still haven't finished watching the CMA Christmas Special - which will be reairing on 12/22 on ABC btw.)

I do have a list of winners for you though.

Stocking Stuffer

Happy Holidays!

It's Stocking Stuffer Time! Their are children in Dodge County that can use your help this Christmas.

Here's how the Stocking Stuffer program works.

Throughout the day you will here us talk about kids that need you to play Santa for them. Then you call in and let us know that you want to fill up their stockings. It's whatever you can do. One gift or many. Each gift helps bring a smile to a child on Christmas morning.

You don't have to wait for us to talk about Stocking Stuffers to become one. You can call whenever you have a free moment and we'll match you up with a child or family in need.

It's a fun thing to do with your kids, family, friends, coworkers.

You can also pick a stocking off the Stocking Stuffer Tree at our sponsor Slumberland Furniture & Sears in Beaver Dam.

The program only runs through December 3rd, so please help now if you can.

Call 920-887-9595 anytime to become a Stocking Stuffer or email me at lyoung@gkbradio.com.

Thank you so much for your help.

Snap Fitness - Week 5

WHOO-HOOO!

That pretty much sums up how I feel right now.

For weeks I've been working my butt off (thanks to Trainer Keith), and then feeling great but oh so tired when I got home. I'm talking tired where I flop on the couch and then have to make myself get up to make a nice salad to eat. It was that great "I worked my buns off" type of feeling.

But...

things were starting to pile up at home. Dishes, laundry, I think I have a coffee table - but it's hard to see it under all that stuff.

But I knew this was going to change. That I was going to get past the feeling that I had done enough for the night. That I had used up my quota of energy for the evening at the gym.

AND IT HAS HAPPENED!!!

After my workout on Monday I felt GREAT! (Even though Keith made me do 300 situps that night! :) I felt ENERGIZED after my workout. I actually had the energy to go to the library and return my library books (on their due date - which is an amazing thing for me), and I went home and cleaned my closet (which really doesn't qualify as much of a chore since I look at that as fun :).

Tonights workout was the same. Keith pushed me to the limits and I feel full of energy again. (Did those stupid dishes - so the kitchen is nice and clean now.)

So week 5 has been a real turning point for me. I've been feeling good about the workouts, and now I'm really starting to feel wonderful!

One thing Keith has done is start to switch up the workouts. Now sometimes we do cario first and resistance training last. Doing it that way my muscles are more tired and work harder. And boy I felt that tonight! LOL

So now I'm even more motivated to workout. The energy I've been waiting for has finally arrived.

Keep checking back for more updates. And watch for a flip video coming to Facebook about my workouts.

CMA Live Blog - #10

Cool commercial for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader featuring the song that Carrie sings over the movie credits.

I'm sorry, but seven seasons in and Grey's looks stupider than ever! What a ridiculous commercial for what sounds like an event that every medical show has already done. (I stopped watching Grey's last season.)

Tim McGraw flew in to present Entertainer of the Year - Brad Paisley (another one right for me - that makes a total of 8 for me tonight)

Brad's speech is great from the start - a turtle on a fence post! He's tearing up as he thanks the fans -did you hear that? He thanked Leslie! heehee

GREAT show tonight!

CMA Live Blog - #9

Time for the Loretta Lynn tribute. Sissy Spacek introduces with a marvelous speech.

Miranda, and Sheryl Crow pay tribute in song. And there is the fabulous Ms. Loretta - who still has that amazing voice! LOVE HER!!

Now she and Sissy present Female Vocalist (can they just give it to Loretta?) Miranda Lambert!

I'm so sappy - I'm cryin'!

Another dress for Carrie - I've lost count! LOL Like this one a lot thou - poofy skirt.

Time for Gwyneth Paltrow and Vince Gill with Country Strong - gonna be lots of comments about this on the blogs tomorrow I betcha. She looks nervous! But she can sing. It is hard to play guitar and sing - but she is pulling it off. She looks like she can't believe she's there. I do think the movie looks good. A bit of feedback every now and again. WTH's up with that sound guys? They get a standing O and she looks all abashed.

CMA Musical Event - HillBilly Bone - Trace Adkins & Blake Shelton

CMA Live Blog - #8

Lady Antebellum is up now to sing Hello World - YES!!! GREAT SONG!!! Careful where you step Hillary and Charles - there are light bulbs all over the floor!

I forgot that Charles brother Josh was married to Katherine Heigel! Did not like her very blond hair when they showed her.

Love Martina's dress when she is presenting Male Vocalist - Blake Shelton!!! YIPPPEEEEEE!!!!! (what's up with keeping Nicole in the shot with Keith? No one else's spouse made it in the shot.)
Reba is bawling! It's about frickin' time that voice is honored!

The Band Perry performing part of If I Die Young as they launch into the CMA Winning [Radio] Stations of the Year. None from our area this year.

Vince Neil on Skating With the Stars? LOFL

Ooooo - look at Brad's sparkly jacket. LOL to his comment, "after the night Blake and Miranda are having tonight I think we can expect a baby in about nine months." I noticed they didn't show them.

Carrie now to sing Mama's Song in an absolutely stunning purple gown. So gorgeous!

Brad cracks me up - "Everybody evacuate calmly" as the fog gets out of control.

YES - Dierks and some bluegrass with Up On the Ridge!

CMA Live Blog - #7

Brad Paisley performs a new song for his new CD that he's working on. Man, love all those Country Music Legends on the vid screen behind him, morphing into a mix of newer ones too. I'm guessing the title is "This Is Country Music." Sounds like a winner to me! LOVE the song title's listed as he closes it out!

Jeff Gordon is back with JoAnna Garcia (who looks gorgeous in that purple dress). They are presenting Vocal Duo of the Year - Sugarland!!!! (not my official pick to win - but who I thought should win - so do I get 1/2 a point? LOL) How cute Kristian's dad is there.

Music Video of the Year - The House That Built Me

CMA Live Blog #6

Back from the break with Keith Urban and Put You In a Song. Yummy! Love the yellow shirt Keith! Remind me to tell you the story sometime of how I kissed his neck. LOL

OK - another dress for Carrie. A lovely yellow, orange, white number - hard to describe, but pretty.

Reba! to sing If I Were a Boy. How the heck does she look so good? Plastic surgery? She is just stunning! (JK about the plastic surgery - but she doesn't even seem to have one crow's foot!) Love the lyrics to this song. Love the set too. A standing O for Ms. Reba! Here's hoping she takes Female Vocalist.

I love the Keith Urban commercial for the American Cancer Society where he sings Happy Birthday.

The Jeff Gordon/Brad Paisley identity theft joke was cute - LOL to Brad calling Jeff scrappy regarding his fight. I'm betting that was unscripted.

Alright - Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson - Don't You Want To Stay Her A Little While. Great song - I hope it's his next single! Oh, look, another standing O.

I love the dresses Karen and Kimberly are wearing (from Little Big Town). Oh man, listen to them harmanize on Taylor's You Belong With Me.

Album of the Year - Miranda Lambert's Revolution. (first one I got wrong -but this category was sooooooo tough) I love how Blake bowed to her and she basically ran in place in excitement. I love her white fringy dress! And those shoes are rockin'!

Yeah, Kid Rock! Born Free is a rockin' song!

CMA Live Blog - #5

I liked The Middle's salute to country music. Brick lip synching Ring of Fire was cute. ::whispers:: On ABC

Taylor sings Back to December. Beautiful setting, as she plays the piano in a lovely dress. Her red red lipstick pops nicely. Vocals seem a bit week, but not too bad. Like the "snow." LOVE the song.

Ooo - a nice Yummy shot of scruffy Dierks.

OK - better shot of Carrie's dress - interesting - works on her.

SUGARLAND!!!! Stuck Like Glue must have just went number one since Carrie said it was number one.
Oh, love the circus setting - and of course Jennifer is so dramatic! I would perform just like her if I could sing.
Oh, LOL the tutu just stayed there.

Chris Young, Easton Corbin, and Chris Young present Vocal Group of the Year - Lady Antebellum

CMA Live Blog - #4

Just saw Carrie's Olay commercial - girl's showin' some serious roots! Gorgeous thou!

Zac Brown Band w/ Alan Jackson - As She's Walking Away. Love the set! Such a great song! Love Alan walkin out for his line - he's the Wise Man!

Ooo, I like the new teal dress Carrie is wearing. The color anyway. Also, love her shoes.

Time for Kenny to sing The Boys of Fall - I'm kinda over this song to be honest.

CMA Live Blog - #3

Doncha love the AMA commercial with the Bikers for Bieber? Hi-lar-ious!

Back from the break with Miranda Lambert (happy birthday Ran!)

She's singing That's the Way That the World Goes Round from Revolution. She's havin' fun - but it's hard to hear her vocals over the music - and I hate that on awards shows.

Little Jimmie Dickens and Brad and Carrie now - LOL to Jimmie with the flippers and goggles and his "screamin' like a banshee!"

Time for King George with his amazing The Breath You Take. Damn George is still HOT!

Darius Rucker to present Top New Artist = Zac Brown Band! WOOT (3 for 3)

I think they all look great - pulling off the casual look on this spify night - only Zac could pull of the stocking cap, am I right?

CMA Live Blog - #2

Back from break with Rascal Flatts performing Why Wait (my honey's fav band - NOT! :)
Is that Buddy Holly or Jay DeMarcus?

Kellie Pickler, Jerrod Niemann, and Luke Bryan to present Song of the Year. I love Kellie's pretty dress, but don't like her hair. Not diggin' Jerrod's painter's cap either - he also looks very uncomfy to be standing up there. Next year he can perform!

Song of the Year = The House That Built Me - Miranda Lambert (YES! I'm 2 for 2)

I love Miranda's dress - that sparkly silver metallic skirt is purty. She looks great.

Boo! Her writers got cut off - sure the Oscars can go 2 hours over, but the CMA's can't go a minute over. BOO!

Dress number 2 for Carrie is gorgeous! Light pink with all those flowers on the skirt - I LOVE it.

Carrie and Brad sing Golden Ring for Blake and Miranda - LOL to Brad's "that's what she said" joke.

Blake now sings All About Tonight. YUMMY! He sounds so good - I hope he wins Male Vocalist!

CMA Live Blog - #1

Black screen for me at the beginning and then it's Carrie Underwood performing with Brad Paisley on the guitar! And Keith Urban on bango!! WOOT! The song was from Carrie's Play On album - Songs Like This - great stuff!

How the heck did Carrie change so fast?! (honey said it's easy when you have 6 guys in the back - all handsy - lol) Like the silver metalic, but hate the big black poof over the shoulder.

ROFLMAO at Tim McGraw as an Avatar!

LOL to their cheatin' song! Brett Favre has taken up photography!!

Brad and Carrie are making me snort - they are so funny! Mixing up Lady A and Lady Gaga - heehee.

Ty and LeAnn start the night (sorry, but gag). Don't really like LeAnn's dress (but the neckline is cool) and HATE her shoes.

Single of the Year = Need You Now - Lady Antebellum (WOOT my pick so I am 1 for 1)
Hillary looks beautiful!

Snap Fitness - Week 4

Today we changed things around - cardio first followed by resistance training.

My trainer - Keith - said that this makes your muscles work harder since they're tired, and it's always good to change up your workout.

We had been doing three sets with the weights, but with cardio first we only did two. Though Keith told me we were going to do an extra set of abs!!

And we switched up the order of the ab exercises, and changed one of them just a bit.

But when we got to the second set of he told me he was just kidding and we were only doing two sets of abs...BUT the last set of reverse crunches were going to be done on the bench!!

Oh WOW! That was super hard, but I did it! My entire body was shakey after, but a great sense of accomplishment.

So week 4 is underway - and I'm really starting to feel great - even though I can tell that it would be very easy to fall back into the old routine. So each day is one step closer to the goal - and I have to keep that in sight, but I actually feel that I can do it!

Snap Fitness has some great deal going on so check them out! SnapFitness.com

Watch for a Snap Fitness Flip Video coming soon to Facebook!

Snap Fitness Update

Week Number Three is officially in the books!

It's still early in the process but I'm really seeing some progress.

I can feel the burn from my workouts and I can also see that my main goal is starting to be reached.

Remember, my main goal has nothing to do with the scale or a size but is instead about changing a habit. My goal is to get to the point where I want to go work out - since exercise has never been my thing. My thing has always been a good book, the couch (or bed - I like to lay across the bed and read - especially that comfy Verlo) and TV.

I know a few times about 3pm I've felt my mind grasping for excuses not to go to Snap Fitness, but I have an appointment twice a week with my trainer - and if I would only go on the two nights we meet I would be really cheating myself.

Keith has really been working me hard! OMG - I didn't realize how strong I was. And right now I'm doing 225 situps three times a week! I can't imagine doing more than that right now - but I know I'll get there. And, while the resistance training is hard I feel really good when it's all over! LOL For the obvious reason, but also the sense of accomplishment is amazing.

I've also been walking Dingo every night. There's really no choice in the matter. Now that she is feeling better she really won't let us not take her for a jaunt through the neighborhood. But she isn't a young pup anymore and those walks are slow. So I find myself wanting to take a more serious walk. One where I'm exerting myself. Breathing hard. Getting the heart rate up. So last night after we walked I dropped her off and then turned around and went for a real walk. It helps that November is my favorite time of the year for walking. I love the crisp air in the low 30's. The smell of wood furnaces, and the sound of leaves crunching, along with the chilly wind makes for a most excellent walk.

As I walked last night I realized that I was starting to hit that goal of wanting to exercise. I actually would have felt terrible with just the little Dingo walk. (Yesterday was my day off from Snap Fitness after spending Mon, Tue, and Wed there.)

I know I have a long ways to go - that it's only been three weeks. And tough times are ahead. But I feel confident about what I can accomplish.

I feel confident that my goals are realistic and within reach!

I would love to see you out at Snap Fitness too - so join me!

Garth & Trisha host a Flood Relief Benefit Concert

Garth and Trisha held a press conference on Thursday, October 28th at Tennessee's State Capitol to make their big announcement.

The benefit concert will support the ongoing flood relief for Nashville. Garth says it's simply his way of trying to help, and Trisha says that they've learned that rebuilding is a slow process after watching what has been happening in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina five years ago.

Their show will raise money for the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, and will be at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on December 17th.

This will be Garth's first Nashville concert since 1998!

Tickets are $25 with 100% of the proceeds going to charity.

More details will come out on November 3rd.
