UGH! Don't Do It Mindy - Well You Already Did, But...

Why does it seem that the new norm for young women today is amateur porn. Megan Fox actually had to come out and say she wasn't going to make one! WTH is up with that? Those things are suppose to be rare - not derigour.

Well, now Mindy McCready, in her attempt to make a comeback not only has her new album out (I'm Still Here), but is planning to release a video thru porn company Vivid Entertainment. In the video - not only do you see her having you know what, but she'll also talk about her relationship with baseball's Roger Clemens. I'm not gonna tell you what she talks about, but she does wish she could talk to Clemen's ex-wife 'cuz she believes some of the things Clemens said weren't exactly true.

The tape comes out April 19th and is called "Baseball Mistress."

I just have to keep telling myself that I like her music, but honestly, this kind of disgusting crap makes me want to shelve her music.

What do you think about this? Will it impact your feelings about her comeback? Or is good music just good music? email me at countryfun@wxroradio.com or become a fan of WXRO on Facebook and comment there!

UPDATE - I just read that her publicist said they were "not aware of where this alleged film came from or who the maker is. However, we have been informed by legal counsel that any illegally-obtained property, and/or fabricated footage, will be dealt with swiftly, following proper legal procedure."

Sounds like it could be a Mindy double. Let's hope so 'cuz if you are trying to make a country comeback porn is not the way to do it!

Glen Campbell Will Retire...But First...

He's working on a new album - "Ghost on the Canvas" which is reported to be his last. He's working with producer Julian Raymond who says this is "not your mother's Glen Campbell."

The album is inspired by the 2008 covers CD "Meet Glen Campbell" and will feature the likes of Paul Westerberg, Jakob Dylan, members of the Dandy Warhols, and former Nine Inch Nails drummer Josh Freese.

Julian says that Glen (who's 74 in April) is, "playing guitar better than ever, singing and writing better than ever. It's really going to be a great final statement from him."

No release date yet as Glen doesn't have a label but is in talks with several to work out a distribution deal for "Ghost on the Canvas."

He is planning a farewell tour to support the album.

Darryl Worley Headed Back to Iraq for 8th Time

Darryl is going to be part of the Stars For Stripes' "We've Not Forgotten" trip that will entertain troops in Iraq. Some of the many dates feature Darryl with his band, but he'll also be doing some acoustic shows at remote Forward Operating Bases (these are often not included in celebrity tours - prolly 'cuz very dangerous).

The tour runs April 20th thru May 3rd.

Darryl is himself an Army veteran, and says, "In some small way, this is just our way to say thanks in honor of their sacrifice, but it could never compare to what these soldiers do for us every day. Seeing their undying allegiance and loyalty to the cause is so inspiring. Those young men and women are so phenomenal and because of what they do, we are all very fortunate to have the lifestyle and freedom that we have."

Taylor Is a Kids' Choice

Taylor Swift won twice Saturday night at the Nckelodeon 23rd Annual Kids' Choice Awards.

She won Favorite Female Singer over Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and Beyonce.

"You Belong With Me" won Favorite Song.

Taylor couldn't be there to accept in person as she is on the Fearless Tour.

Kellie Likes the Oldies

I hope she sings a bunch when she's at the Dodge County Fair in August. She's out now with Taylor Swift on the Fearless Tour and she switches musical gears for the younger audience. She told Michigan's Flint Journal she is tempted to sneak one in now and again thou, saying, "I would love to be able to get up there and sing a Tammy Wynette song or a Merle Haggard song, but the chances of them really knowing who they are not very good."

I say educate the younguns!

Tim McGraw & Dwight Yoakam's New Movie

Tim and Dwight are joining Milla Jovovich, William H. Macy, and Mary Steenburgen in an indie comedy called Dirty Girl.

Variety.com says the movie is set in Oklahoma during 1987 and is about "a high school tramp who's seeking the father she never knew and runs away with a closeted gay boy who wants to escape going to military school."

Lord help me! I know I'm getting old when they are suddenly making movies about going back in time to the mid-80's!!

Dierks Bentley & the Need for Clean Water

Dierks will perform at the Dow Live Earth Run for Water which is an international event designed to highlight the need for clean and safe water. The event includes six-K run/walks and concerts!

Dierks will perform at an event in Minneaplolis, MN (maybe you could go!). He's proud to be involved saying, "The run/walks that are happening on the same day across the world are a great reminder that we are all connected and that we are all responsible for helping each other."

He's excited about performing in Minnesota saying, "I've always loved playing in Minneapolis...lots of country music fans there, and I'm excited to be part of this historic event."

The Dow Live Earth Run for Water is April 18th. There will be events in 100 cities in 50 countries.

All money raised goes to the Global Water Challenge - a coalition of organizations helping to provide clean and safe water to people all over the world.

AWESOME "Need You Now" Cover

They are Ahmir.

They call themselves the "number-one most popular R&B band on YouTube." Watch this cover of "Need You Now" and I think you'll agree. Charles Kelley liked it so much he put it up on Lady Antebellum's website. He blogged, "It's always flattering to hear such great singers interpret our songs in their own way."

A Special Dinner for Taylor Swift

She's one of the biggest, if not the biggest, thing in country music. Wednesday night her accomplishments were celebrated in Nashville. Scott Borchetta signed Taylor to Big Machine Records in 2006 and he says, "The 18 months of our lives known as the 'Fearless' era have been history-making, euphoric and triumphant. The sales, the airplay, the accolades and the awards have all just been incredible. But most important to me is that my friend Taylor and her collective team of family, record label, management and her road family continue to raise the bar with work ethic, achievement and enjoyment. Dreams do come true."

Here's the staggering list of feats by a young woman who just turned 20.

Taylor Swift Milestones Celebrated at Wednesday's event:

- More than 13 Million in total record sales
More than 25 Million Digital Downloads
- The six-times Platinum Certifications of "Fearless"
"Fearless" as the number one selling album in the US in both 2008 and 2009
- The five-times Platinum Certifications of "Taylor Swift"
The number one and number two positions atop Nielsen's BDS 2009 Top Ten Most Played Songs chart (all genres), with "You Belong With Me" and "Love Story"
- The number one spots on both the 2009 Top Ten Artist Airplay chart (all genres) and the Top Ten Artist Internet Streams chart.
Swift's four most recent number one singles -- "Should've Said No," "Love Story," "White Horse," and "You Belong With Me"

They also recognized Fearless as the most-awarded album in the history of country music and Taylor said, "I never expected I would get to stand up at awards shows as much as I have over the last year for this album."

Yes, Fearless has won every album award in the country music genre!

And yet another award...The National Association of Recording Merchandisers Artist of the Year award. She'll get that one at the organization's finale dinner on May 17th in Chicago.

Martina & SunnyD

Martina McBride has teamed with SunnyD for the "Time to Shine" campaign which celebrates kids. (nice how they incorporate Martina's album into that too)

Martina says, "Every child has their own unique qualities and interests and as a mom I know how important it is to help nurture those attributes." She says, "I love that SunnyD is celebrating and encouraging the spirits of kids nationwide and am honored they asked me to help. I can't think of anything more important to champion than our children's future."

The "Time To Shine" promotion invites people to share how the children in their lives shine. If you submit a story you will be entered to win a grand prize which includes a ten-thousand-dollar cash award and a VIP trip to Nashville to meet Martina McBride and see her in concert. There will also monthly winners.

Where is the new Jo Dee Messina CD?

Stuck in Limbo it would seem! Unmistakable has again been postponed by her record label and Jo Dee isn't happy about it. She told the Belleville, Illinois' New Democrat, "The album has been completed since 2007, and there is always some sort of reason they have not to release it ... In fact, it was supposed to be released April 13th, and now that has been delayed. It's just so frustrating for me."

My guess is that the album got pushed back this time 'cuz country radio isn't latching onto her single "That's God." WXRO is playing it, but who else? They need to see a good response before they are willing to release it.

I say, let's try another single. "That's God" is good, but LeeAnn Womack has "There is a God" out right now and maybe stations think they are too similar. So give us another great Jo Dee song!

The Road Hammers - Today's Log Jam Fest Interview

At 2pm today I'll be chatting with Jason McCoy from The Road Hammers who are set to play Log Jam Fest on 8/1.

Luke Bryan is Hysterical!

Even if you don't want to vote for Luke to win Top New Solo Vocalist at the ACM's in April you need to see this!

It's an hysterical video urging you to vote for him and it is Country Star Studded. See if you can name them all (I couldn't). All of Lady A take part (they helped write Luke's "Do I"), Dierks is on it (looking HOT in a beard and messy hair! I mean...just...YUMMY!), then there's Blake Shelton bringing the humor, and Emily West, and Mel Tillis to name a few.

I really started to snort laughter when Luke shows up in a leotard and starts doing Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance. The reaction to that from the stars was fun.

And they make fun of his name - "Who would vote for someone with two first names?"

Quite hysterical - and quite worth the look!

You have 'til Monday to vote - and you can vote by hitting the link on the right.

CD News & Stuff

Listen for the new Gary Allan CD on the show today! I love Gary and am off to purchase "Get Off On the Pain" for the show today.

Gary says he really identifies with the title track. “To me, it reflects the road. The road is a very relentless grind that I love. I get off on it. So to me it's like very 'get off on the pain.' And a lot of those lines, being in the outside of the pack, you know, 'back of the pack with the dark horses,' I felt like we've been that our whole career. Just kind of on the outside of what's happening.”

YES!! Dierks Bentley is hard at work on a Bluegrass CD!!! "Up On the Ridge is Dierks "version of bluegrass music. It's not just banjos cranked up to eleven. It throws out a big net." Dierks says, "I didn't want this to be 'Dierks Bentley and friends' or a 'Dierks does bluegrass' kind of album. I wanted each song to have something special about it, and in the end I think each song really does have its own thing going on." He is getting help from some friends - like Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, and the Del McCoury Band. It's coming out this summer!

I have to wonder if Jessica Harp regrets breaking up The Wreckers to go solo. She cranked out two pretty good singles, "Boy Like Me," and her album's title track "A Woman Needs," but had no real commercial success. So she posted on her website that she has decided to, "stop pursuing my career as a recording artist and focus on songwriting full time." Obviously, not an easy decision for her. She says, "I love music so much and I can't imagine it not being a part of my life. And moving forward as a songwriter, I will hopefully be able to share my music through the voices of artists who DO have their hearts in what they're doing. Of course I'll miss being the one on stage seeing those smiling faces and always will. But I have memories to last a lifetime, and I'm at a point where I feel anything's possible. I don't think I've stepped on my last stage. But I know the stage is better left for others at this time." "A Woman Needs" will be released digitally on March 16th. Good Luck Jessica!

I'm looking forward to the Zac Brown Band's live release, "Pass The Jar - Zac Brown Band and Friends Live from the Fabulous Fox Theatre In Atlanta" on May 4th. It's a two-CD/one-DVD set, and it was taped last October at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, at a benefit concert to help with the reconstruction of the historic Georgia Theater in Athens. Who are "the friends?" Oh, just the likes of Little Big Town, Joey + Rory, Kid Rock, and Shawn Mullins. It's 19 songs and includes "Chicken Fried," "Whatever It Is," and "Toes," along with covers of "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down."

Today Matt Kennon's digital EP is available, and it includes his debut song "The Call" Matt says the title track really rings true to him. He says when he wrote the song the lyrics, “spoke to me, and those words I try to live by.” Matt's self-titled debut album is due May 11th.

Brad Paisley Falls but is OK

Ouch! Brad was wrapping up his American Saturday Night Tour in Charleston, SC at the Charleston Coliseum when he took a nasty tumble! I literally said "Oh My God" when he went flying.

At least it happened on the final note of his encore song - ironically enough, "Alcohol."

He sure handled it like a pro - Tyra Banks would be so pround.

He did go to a local hospital via ambulance after leaving the stage.

He's pretty badly bruised, but doing OK. He posted this picture on his Twitter page.
He also tweeted, "really did think I broke a rib or something." (tests showed no fractures even) Yesterday he tweeted, "Man am I sore today. You guys should see the brusie."

Oscars & Razzies

"The Weary Kind (Theme from 'Crazy Heart')" won the Best Original Song Oscar last night.

T-Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham were on hand to accept the award, but T-Bone wasn't feeling well, so Ryan did the talking, expressing their appreciation for the recognition.

"The Weary Kind" has also won Best Original Song - Motion Picture at the Golden Globes, Best Song at the Broadcast Film Critics Association's 15th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards. Plus, the score, created with T-Bones late friend Stephen Bruton - who died of cancer last May - was honored by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association in December.

Billy Ray Cyrus took home a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actor for his role in "Hannah Montana: The Movie."

Sandra Bullock made history this year when she became the first actress to win an Oscar and a Razzie in the same year. She won an Oscar for Best Actress for "The Blind Side" and a Razzie for Worst Actress in "All About Steve." (gotta say, it would have been hilarious if she would have won for the same film!)

She had quite the sense of humor - and actually showed up at the Awards to accept her Razzie!

She pulled a wagon full of "All About Steve" DVDs onto the Awards stage! "You know, nothing ever lets me get too full of myself," Bullock said after the Oscars.

Sandra promised to keep both her Razzie and Oscar trophies prominently displayed in her home. "They'll sit side by side on a nice little shelf somewhere," she said. "The Razzie maybe on a different shelf ... lower."

Congrats to karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook!

Elijah Dylan Westbrook arrived Friday in Nashville weighing in at seven pounds, 14 oz. and was 19 3/4 inches long.

Karen says, "We've been waiting for this for a long time and can't tell you how thrilled and blessed we both feel."

Seems Jimi has a degree in early childhood education and Karen says he's a "natural" as a dad. Jimi believes Karen is going to be "an incredible mom." He jokes, "She has always been so good with children. Besides, she's done a great job raising me to become a responsible adult!"

Kimberly Schlapman says she and Phillip Sweet, "have dreamed of this moment with them for a long time. We can't wait to welcome another little angel onto our bus."

Now all of Little Big Town are parents!

John Rich Still Tickin' Off the Neighbors

And now they are trying to fight back. There were concerns about John Rich's new house when he was building it. I recall neighbors worrying that the sun would set for them at noon 'cuz it was so huge. But now they are not happy with all the light he's shining at night.

The mansion is dubbed "Mount Richmore," and it's huge and very modern. It sits in the Love Circle Nashville Neighborhood (I know, sounds like Big Kenny should be the one living there).

Seems the neighbors are very unhappy with the very bright light that shines away from the home, so they protested by pointing flashlights toward the home. The police were called and the "mob" of around 15 were disbanded.

Gotta say, John seems to me to be the type that would just shine brighter lights. ::smirk::

Fontanel Opening to the Public

Do you remember the gorgeous mansion used in CMT's "Gone Country?" That is Barbara Mandrell's former home. It was built in 1988. John Rich and his wife Joan Bush had their wedding reception there in 2008, and now the current owner, Marc Oswald, is going to open it for public tours starting June 1st. Plans to include a new museum, restaurant and amphitheater for concerts. So, start making those plans to see Fontanel now.
