Phil Vassar has a great New Video out

His new song is "Bobby with an I" and the first time I heard it I almost spit out my soda! Laugh out loud hilarious.

And along comes the video - with James Denton. Yes, Mike the Plumber from Desperate Housewives (who I think married Susan in the finale).

Great stuff - check it out here at AOLMusic.com.

What a Sad Week :(

First we lost icon Ed McMahon. I didn't really watch The Tonight Show with him, but I watched him every year on The Jerry Lewis Telethon!

Then we lost Farrah Fawcett. I was too young to understand the power of "jiggle tv" or that poster, but I loved Charlie's Angels! And who didn't want that hair? Watching 20/20 last night and seeing the interviews with Barbara Walters you could really see what a classy, smart lady she was.

And hours after Farrah comes the shocking news of Michael Jackson's death! A man who changed the world with the music he made. A man who gave the media plenty of fodder in his later years.

For me, the death of Michael hits the hardest. He was one of my biggest musical icons in the 80's. Of course I have the Thriller album (It's actually my brothers - but I have it in my collection - don't tell). I will never forget waiting excitedly for the Thriller video to debut on MTV, or seeing him moonwalk for the first time. I remember loving him with Diana Ross in The Wiz ("Ease on down, ease on down, ease on down the road").

Say what you want about Michael Jackson in the later years, but he was still someone who was truly Iconic and changed the world of music and dance.

PETA's Sexiext Vegetarian Alive

Shania Twain and Carrie Underwood have held the title, but this year it belongs to Kellie Pickler!

Why did Kellie go vegetarian? She told People magazine "One night I couldn't sleep and I was up just Googling random stuff and I'm like, 'Hmmm, PETA.' I saw all the videos and I just thought it was horrible ... it really bothered me and so I will not eat meat." She's friends with Carrie and Carrie helped her give up meat (which neither thought she could - lol)

Kids Say the Darndest Things!

How do you score a visit to your favorite singers house? Have your six-year old ask!

At Reba McEntire's fan club party at CMA Music Fest last week she was asked, "Oh, Miss Reba, can I come see your house?? She said yes because, "...What else are you going to say to a cute little old six-year-old kid?"

LMAO!!

Tim McGraw wants us to Smell Good

Tim told "Women's Wear Daily" that he has another fragrance on the way. "McGraw" was his first foray into the world of smell goods, and now "Southern Blend" hits the store shelves in August. He describes it as "a little lighter," and that he envisions a field when he thinks about it. "Southern Blend" is a mix of grapefrueit, star anise, and bergamot, lavender, violet leaves, amber and other scents. He wants "soemthing understated and cool, something where you didn't feel like you were putting on some sort of French name, something that had a masculine feel to it." With "McGraw" he wanted a frangrance that men and women could wear.

So I guess we can look forward to "Southern Blend" samples to start showing up in the magazines. Can't wait to give it a sniff.

COUNTRY CHART

Make sure you check out the country chart every week. Just click on the musical notes to the left and you'll find another blog featuring the chart we base our music on (it's my own creation - and no I am not telling my secret ingredient).

I always have a featured Artist - which right now is Sugarland - and when you click on the picture you will be taken to that Artist's website - right now the cool Sugarland on Tour Interactive site.

I just added a new feature - the weekly sales figures courtesy of SoundScan.

You'll also find the songs I could listen to over and over - just like when I was a teenager and would drive my parents nuts with the wonderous sounds of Billy Idol, Loverboy, and 'Til Tuesday.

There are also links to take you to Billboard and Country Countdown USA.

I would love to hear your feedback, and what you would like to see added, so just email me at countryfun@wxroradio.com

Crop Circles

Tis the season for the Alien Conspiracy theories to start flying. A new Crop Circle popped up in an Oxfordshire barley field. It's a pretty cool jellyfish.

It's a big one - about 3 times bigger than most crop circles.

Some say there is no way that humans can create these complicated designs in the very short night's of the UK (about 5 hours) but I watched a Myth Busters on NatGeo that proved they could do it. So I just think it's clever humans.

The crop circles are gorgeous, and it's a tourist business, but people have a tendency to be rude and trample the remaining crops to look at it - not to mention the trampling of the crops themselves. Seems silly to me to try and look at a crop circle from close up on the ground!

Here's a couple more that I thought were cool.

John Rich is a Grumpy Puss!

What is up with John Rich and the fights? Seemed he was at Cafe Coco in Nashville and when it got to be closing time he took umbrage at the bartender taking his beer away.

The way I hear it he went in pretty late, then wanted a singer to perform The National Anthem, then asked for the performer's guitar. He then started doing some Roger Miller. When bar-time came he told the server not to interrupt him in the middle of Roger Miller and then got pretty upset when the server reached to take his beer away (gotta say I thought when bar-time came you could finish your drink before skedaddling). He then took the bottle and threw it against a fence - right in front of an officer of the law! Who did not give him a citation but told him to leave immediately - and John did.

Oh, and a TV crew was there too - WKRN.

What's up John? Could you be mad about the lawsuit with Jared Ashley?

This thing is getting super ugly. Jared (who was on Nashville Star in season 4 when Chris Young won - I actually had to look that up as I don't remember him AT ALL!) filed a new 79-page lawsuit against John (which is more than double the size of the previous 30 page doc) They added defamation to the assault and harassment charges.

The assault and harassment charges stem from Jared accusing John of threatening him many times and punching him in the jaw in March. They are now adding defamation after John issued a statement last week claiming Jared wanted $2.9 million to drop it. Jared's rep is saying John made that up!

John did turn himself in last week for arrest and paid a $3,000 fine (and then made the statement about Jared basically trying to extort him).

Add all this to the story of the altercation John got in last fall in LA when he was accused of smashing a beer bottle in a rock musician's face (cue the lawsuit) and you start to wonder a bit about his temperament.

The server at the bar told WKRN John was "a very unpleasant person," calling him "pompous and arrogant and completely out of line, like nobody else’s rules pertain to him."

I will say that IMHO John seems like a very nice guy, but I think you can see the possibility of him being pompous and arrogant, so perhaps that comes out when he lets loose with the alcohol - I've known a few people who change personalities when they drink. (usually it's hard liquor over beer thou)

I'll keep you up to date on these events!

(thanks GAC for the story)

Miranda Lambert & The Fabric of Our Lives

She's one of the "new faces of cotton" and says "It's home grown, it helps the farmers out, and I feel like it's kind of a good way to go green."

She was a little worried about stepping in for Aaron Neville. She told Billboard magazine, "I wanted it to be great because Aaron Neville's work was amazing, and you're going to be compared whether you like it or not."

Check out Miranda's new campaign at thefabricofourlives.com.
