Stevie Nicks Praises Taylor Swift

A LOT of hullabaloo was made about the Grammy performance of Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks, but I think we can all Shut UP now as Stevie has some pretty nice things to say about Taylor.

Taylor Swift has been named to the 2010 Time 100 list of most influential people. In the article, Stevie Nicks praises Taylor for being the voice of women of all ages saying, "Taylor is writing for the universal woman and for the man who wants to know her. The female rock-'n'-roll-country-pop songwriter is back, and her name is Taylor Swift."

Frontman Brad Mates is a daddy! His wife Jana had Tyler Robert Mates Wednesday night in Nashville, at 7:04 p.m. CST. He weighed seven-pounds, 13-ounces, and both he and mommy are doing well. Tyler is their first child. Tyler isn't the first baby for the band. Fiddle player David Pichette and his wife Jill have a daughter, Emma, who is 17-months old.

The Mindy McCready Sex Tape is Coming Out

"Baseball Mistress" is going to be out May 4th. It seems Vivid Entertainment says Mindy signed away her rights to the tape (!), transferring it to a third party. Mindy's lawyer, Adam Dread, says she "has no recollection of signing it." Plus he says at the time she "was in no mental capacity to enter into a legal contract." It seems the day after she made the binding agreement Mindy was admitted to the hospital, where she spent the next eleven days "in and out of a comatose state because of alcohol and previous injuries from being beaten."

So are they going to try and block the release? No! But Mr.Dread does say he might pursue a case against the third party that sold the tape to Vivid.

Wow! Just WOW!

Idol Results

Hey! I can't believe I got my wish! Sioban went home! But Holy Hannah - Casey was in the Bottom 2 with her! WTH is that about? I'm gonna guess people thought he would be safe and didn't vote for him for that reason. Aaron Kelly not in the bottom 3! Really? Really!?

My take on American Idol Goes Shania

Sioban - "Any Man of Mine" - Go HOME Sioban! Totally, completely AWFUL last night! Well, her very last note, on the word Mine was very nice - other than that . I've grown very tired of her performances. That shriek was absolutely painful and I think the only reason that Simon was so nice is 'cuz he wants her to stick around. To say that her shriek sounded like she was giving birth, but then give her a pass is mystifying. Even more mystifying is Randy shouting "YES!" to that statement.

Michael Lynche - "It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing" - 2nd worse for me was Big Mike. Mostly 'cuz he sang my fav Shania song and he didn't do it justice. Her voice sounds scraped raw with hurt when she sings it - which is what the lyrics of that song demand - and I didn't hear that from him.

Aaron Kelly - "You Got a Way" - Not a fan of Aaron, so his performance didn't do anything for me either. He's going to have to improve a LOT for me to program any future music of his to WXRO. But he's young, so I think with work, down the road I would give him a chance.

Crystal Bowersox - "No One Needs To Know" - Crystal gave the only true country performance last night - I liked what she did with that song. A little twang in her voice too.

Lee DeWyze - "You're Still the One" - Truth be told I am very very sick of that Shania song he sang (except as an anniversary dedication - but outside of that it's overplayed for me). But I actually liked his version, and the more I listen to the clip I have of it the more I like it.

Casey James - "Don't" - the BEST of the night, and his best in a long time. I've been a fan of his since I heard an original from him. I do think the judges need to stop talking about his looks now. He is not a piece of meat and they need to stop talking about him like that.

I think I've made it clear who I want to see go home, but I'm sure she'll stay and it'll be Mike or Aaron.

Looking forward to the results show tonight for a change. Thou WTF does Shakira have to do with country week?

And every since Ryan got off the wall weird/rude a couple of weeks ago I've been looking at his eyes. Dude is totally tired! Wouldn't be surprised to see him backing off one of his many gigs at some point soon.

Mary Chapin Carpenter to Receive the Spirit of Americana Award

In recognition of her efforts to promote free speech she will receive the "Spirit of Americana" Free Speech in Music Award from the Newseum's First Amendment Center and the Americana Music Association.

Mary and her work will be honored at the "Freedom Sings" event and she'll be saluted musically by Rodney Crowell and Judy Collins, and take part in a Q-and-A session.

When the announcement was made, the Newseum and the First Amendment Center's Ken Paulson said her career, "has been one of absolute integrity. She has consistently written and performed songs that take a stand and reflect the human condition, while her activism outside of her art has also effected real change for real people."

American Idol Goes Country

Shania is going to be the mentor. I'll have more on Tuesday.

For right now - check out MJ's blog for the scoop - including a list of songs that they can choose from.

Idol really has the potential to be super ugly (translation - painfully fun) this week.

2010 ACM Performances

This is Taylor Swift's most excellent performance of "Change" followed by the Top New Artist nominees performances - that would be Gloriana, Luke Bryan, and Joey + Rory.

Here's Tim McGraw with "Still" followed by Brad Paisley's "Water."

Kenny Chesney performed "Ain't Back Yet" (it's one of the performances I missed :( But half way thru is the ASTOUNDING Laura Bell Bundy. LOVED "Giddy On Up!"

Here's Miranda's "The House That Built Me," Montgomery Gentry's touching acceptance speech for the Home Depot Humanitarian Award, and the start of Jack Ingram and Dierks Bentley on "Barbie Doll."

2010 ACM Fashions

Miranda Lamber with bo Blake in the middle!

Keith & Nic are sooo cute!

Trace looks a bit grumpy here!

Sugarland look amazing - love Jen's dress.
Rascal Flatts! Tim & Faith are gorgeous and I told you Tim was rockin' those jeans!

Gloriana above and this is Trailor Choir!

ACM's - LL Cool J says "I'm blown away. I love it! I love it!"

Yes, LL has drank the Kool-aid! He loves it just like all the other newbies fall in love with it!!

No ONE does an award show like COUNTRY MUSIC!!!

Well YIKES! I was so busy that I missed the first half hour!

I'm so use to not having to watch anything when it starts anymore due to the DVR, but that only works when you set the DVR for the show!

Sounds like I missed a really awesome start with Carrie and Miranda kickin' into "Travelin' Band" by CCR only to have Brad join them, along with Charlie Daniels and oh, just John Fogerty too! Here's how I watched that.

But I've been right on for the awards so far.

Lady Antebellum wins Single and Song of the Year for "Need You Now." Gotta say, that is a song I am still not tired of hearing with the volume cranked as I 'sing' along.

Very excited to see that "Hillbilly Bone" was the Vocal Event of the Year.

Miranda Lambert won Video of the Year for "White Liar."

Luke Bryan is the Best New Artist
Before announcing his win all 3 nominees performed and they sounded great. Loved Joey + Rory ending in a kiss.

YES! Miranda Lambert won Album of the Year for Revolution!! Uh, oh - she's not happy as she wanted her producer Frank Liddell to talk and he was shy and they basically cut him off completely. I know I heard Miranda say "Really?" in an unhappy tone.

Carrie Underwood is the latest Triple Crown Winner which puts her in the elite group of artists who have all won the Top New Artist in their field, plus the Top Artist in their field, plus the Big One - Entertainer of the Year.

Top Vocal Group = Lady Antebellum.

Top Male Vocalist = Brad Paisley
Brad is all wet yet from the end of his performance of "Water." Started out hilarious with Mathew McConaughey giving Carrie Underwood the boots she said she wanted last year when she won Entertainer of the Year.

Top Female Vocalist = Miranda Lambert
Crack me up. The camera pans to her when her name is announced and she is looking stunned at Blake Shelton saying "Are you freakin' kidding me?" And you see him laugh at her reaction - so cute.

Home Depot Humanitarian Award = Montgomery Gentry
T-Roy isn't wearing his hat and he has such a mod hair style. Love it. Ooo, his voice is shaking so much he's so nervous about this. Love that he said they find it "embarrassing."

Top Vocal Duo = Brooks & Dunn
As if there was any other choice! There would have been anarchy from the other artists if they would have won in this their last year! LOFL Kix Brooks makes a Brett Favre joke!

Entertainer of the Year = Carrie Underwood
How AWESOME!!!! Brad Paisley gave her the biggest hug. And I have to say, that green dress Reba wore to present was stunning!

Performances: Overall great!

Toby Keith's special performance with Dave Koz of "Cryin' For Me (Waymon's Song)" was emotional and beautiful. Remember you can go to iTunes and download that song to help StandUp2Cancer in Waymon's name right now! Toby's beard was shaggy scrumptious!

Taylor Swift's song "Change" was nice - even the honey said she sounded better than the last time. She held that note well at the end. Loved her beautiful dress for the floating stage and then she rips it off to reveal a sparkly tank, black jeans and boots. Loved her backing choir - The Tri-Tones from San Diego (real life Glee?). The body surfing, well, her people, carrying her out was pretty cool too.

Laura Bell Bundy's performance of "Giddy On Up" was super! Loved the dancing. And props to her for not lip synching in what was obviously a very aerobic workout - she was a bit breathy at the end, but that can be overlooked as she sounded great.

Lady A's "American Honey" was spot on and Hillary's dress was gorgeous.

Jack Ingram and Dierks Bentley rock the house with "Barbie Doll." I've seen Jack open for Dierks and perform that song to a screamin' crowd. Fun!

Carrie Underwood comes out and performs "Temporary Home" flawlessly in the most beautiful floral dress I have ever seen. She's on a 'carpet of petals' and then confetti falls that looks like this 'carpet.' This dress is so wonderful I would never want to take it off. Lucky Carrie!

Tim McGraw brought it with "Still." Tim was rockin' those jeans! ::ducks from Faith::

Brad Paisley performs his new hit song "Water" and LOL falls into a pool of water at the end. heehee I think tht's gonna be his encore song in concerts if he does that!

Very disappointed in the start of the Final Brooks & Dunn performance. Obviously some technical issues as the music was drowning them out. BOO! How sweet was Miss Reba choking up introing their last ACM performance? She got to me! Well, they finally got the vocals right at the end. There's that Ronnie Dunn voice we love so much and why we chose "My Maria!"

Reba's performance of "I Keep On Loving You" was sweet with pix of all the country artist couples. I loved her dress, and the material was so interesting I wanted to touch it.

Keith Urban's performance starts a bit quickly - he practically stepped on the announcer. He's Keith, he sounded great and played great! Loved the way they shot it with that grainy video look.

Darius Rucker closing the show! Sounding awesome. Love Darius.

I thought it was interesting that when the show went to breaks they would tell you exactly how long it would be until the performance they were promoting.

Oprah Gets a Network and Shania Gets a Show

The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) launches on Jan. 1, 2011 and one of the 15 original shows will be "Why Not? with Shania Twain."

Gay Rosenthal Productions will develop the series that will offer a look at Shania's life after her marriage broke up, noting that "At the height of superstardom, she was blindsided by a double betrayal shattering her 14-year old marriage. Now in 'Why Not? with Shania Twain,' Shania opens up about her life-altering heartbreak and how she's moving on. Follow Shania as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures."

OK - I'm sure the show will be fine, but wow! That description makes me gag a little. Maybe 'cuz I can hear a cheesy announcer reading it. LOL

Devil of a Ringtone

Like the Charlie Daniels Geico commercial?

Get Charlie's quick fiddle number as a ringtone! That would be kinda cool.

Download it for free from CharlieDaniels.com or Geico.com.

Wedding Bells for Love and Theft

Eric Gunderson to be exact!
Eric married Emily Hagar in a private ceremony last Saturday at Henderson, TN's Hazel Path Mansion. Eric's dad and bandmates (Brian Bandas and Stephen Barker Liles - Taylor Swift's song "Hey Stephen" is about him!) stood up for him and about 150 guests were there for the happy day. Michael Buble's "Crazy Love" was their first dance number and Brain and Stephen serenaded them with "My Girl."

They've been a couple since fall of 2206 and got engaged last summer.

Many happy years to the Gunderson's!

Condolences to Terri Clark

Her mom, Linda, lost her battle with cancer Sunday night.

On Terri's website she wrote, "She is finally at peace and out of pain, our hearts are broken and we will miss her terribly."

Linda Clark was first diagnosed with cancer in 2007. Terri made some career changes so she could be with her mom during her illness. Her mom was the inspiration for many songs on her "The Long Way Home" CD.

The "Mindy McCready" Sex Tape

UPDATE 4/10/10
I was right. There was a tape. Mindy says it was stolen when she gave her mom's best friends her belongs to store in 2006.

With the new album coming out some say this is all done for publicity but Mindyays that is not the case. "This has not been a media stunt. This was not a planned thing. In light of all the changes I've tried to make and worked so hard to make a reality, it's quite insulting for people to think I would do something like this on purpose for headlines."

Mindy is also trying to get custody of her four year old - Zander and says that is "a delicate matter" and says, "Me putting out some kind of a tape like that would be the worst thing I could ever do at this time regarding that situation." Her mom currently has custody and has since Mindy went to jail for six months in 2007 for a probation violation.

Mindy does say the Vivid Execs have been "pretty cool" in dealing with her lawyer. As of now they have pulled the plans to release the video and it seems they are waiting to do the legally right thing.

Delayed by Vivid Entertainment until April 19th as they have to make sure everything is legal and kosher.

Mindy's attorney, Adam Dread, says, "We stand by our original statement that Ms. McCready has never made any video for Vivid Entertainment...We have formally requested that they provide proof of authorization, or refrain from using Ms. McCready's likeness, period."

OK - something fishy here. At the end of the statement it says "Ms. McCready's likeness" but the first part makes it sound like she's actually made a tape - just that Vivid Entertainment doesn't have permission to use it.

Good luck Mindy.
